A main street in Whangarei's CBD was shut down this afternoon after a bomb scare.
Police spokeswoman Sarah Kennett said police received a call shortly before mid-day from a person saying there was a bomb at a disabled services centre in John St.
Ms Kennett said police checked the building and found nothing suspicious.
She said the road was re-opened at 1.15pm.
"Someone is helping police with enquiries," Ms Kennett said.
