A technology company accused of offering bogus jobs in an immigration scam is under investigation, says Deputy Prime Minister Michael Cullen.
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters used parliamentary privilege to accuse Feng Li, of Innovatory Technologies (NZ), of issuing phoney work permits to Chinese students so they could get permanent residence.
He said a lack of staff and funding within the Immigration Service had left it unable to deal with Mr Li, and Innovatory Technologies was now in receivership.
Dr Cullen said Immigration began investigating Innovatory Technologies last August. No permanent residence applications from the company had been granted.
