Police hope the body of a 60-year-old woman who died after an armed incident in Central Otago will be removed from the Roxburgh property today.
The woman, who has not been named, died about 4.45pm yesterday after what was believed to be a domestic incident.
Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw told NZPA it was hoped her body would be removed from the driveway of the house today and a post-mortem conducted.
A 66-year-old man is in a critical condition Dunedin hospital's intensive care unit following the incident, and underwent surgery yesterday.
The pair were in a relationship, and no one else was being sought, Mr Shaw said.
A firearm believed to have been used in the incident was found nearby, he said.
