Body recovered from sea at Omaha

A body believed to be that of a man who went missing while swimming at Omaha north of Auckland this afternoon has been recovered from the sea.

Police said a man was swimming with three others when he disappeared at about 3pm. The three other people were rescued from the surf by bystanders.

Police, surf lifesavers and a helicopter were called in to help with the search. No further details were immediately available.
