Searchers have found the body of the second man who drowned in a tragic flounder fishing trip southeast of Auckland.
An extensive search today resulted in the discovery of the man's body shortly before 7pm, Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers of police northern communications said.
The man was one of two drowned following the expedition at Kawakawa Bay at the top of the Firth of Thames on Friday night. The body of his colleague was found yesterday.
The discovery would help bring some closure to the man's family, Mr Rogers said.
The men were part of a group of three that went looking for flounder on mud flats at Kawakawa Bay with spear guns and lights. One decided to turn back as he was uncomfortable about being in the water with an incoming tide.
