The body of a 53-year-old man reported missing from a 3-day tramp in the Kaikoura Seaward Ranges has been found this morning, police say.
The local, who was walking alone, appears to have fallen 300 metres while negotiating rocky terrain along the Surveyor Spur, said Sergeant Julian Lewis from Kaikoura police.
The death has been referred to the Coroner and a post-mortem examination will determine cause of death.
Police are not releasing the name of the dead man until next of kin have been notified.
