The body of missing surfer Duncan Munro has been found in bush area on the Mahia Peninsula today.
The 43-year-old Gisborne man had been missing since around noon on Thursday and a search team found his body about 10:30am today, Sergeant Greg Lexmond said.
His car was found with his surfboard and wetsuit inside near a popular surf break yesterday.
Mr Lexmond said Mr Munro's family and friends had been part of the search operation.
"He was a very popular guy," he said.
