Body of missing fisherman found

The body of a missing fisherman who was swept out to sea on Tuesday has been found.

Fa'amanuia Filipo, 28, disappeared while fishing with a friend at the mouth of the Waikato River at Port Waikato.

They were setting a net when they were both caught in the tidal flow and swept out to sea.

The friend managed to reach shore but Mr Filipo, from Manurewa, disappeared. His body was found by police searchers near the same spot today.

Neither man was wearing a lifejacket.
