A post mortem revealed a body found in a west Auckland stream yesterday was that of 58-year-old John Meldrum, who has been missing since October 25.
He was last seen about 3am at his home in the suburb of Sunnyvale after drinking with a neighbour.
His son, who he lived with, arrived home at 10am the next day to find his father's car parked outside but Mr Meldrum was gone.
His body was found face down in the Middlebrook Stream - about 900m away from his home on Blueridge Close - by a neighbour walking along the footpath.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
