A Canadian tourist died after she fell 3.6m into a swollen river and was washed away yesterday, police said.
The body of Louise Anne Barhns, 33, was found at 1 pm today, about 10km from where she fell from the track in Mt Aspiring National Park, in the Southern Alps, into Young River, police said.
Mrs Barhns was walking around a slip on the track while tramping with her husband when she fell, police southern communications said in a statement.
A search began after Mrs Barhns' husband walked five hours out of the bush to raise the alarm.
