A woman's body has been found near an alpine tunnel after snow melted.
Police believe the body is that of Christine Lenicker, who was last seen on March 30 after parking her car in Fiordland's Homer Tunnel car park before heading off on a hike.
Southern District Police said the body was removed from the area yesterday to undergo formal identification.
Police said Christine's family and the German Embassy had been advised
