KEY POINTS:
A body found on a sandbank in Whangarei Harbour yesterday has been confirmed as that of missing eye surgeon Geoffrey Wallace.
Dr Wallace, 46, of Parua Bay, had not been seen since leaving a marina at One Tree Pt to cross the harbour in a 2.5m dinghy with a small outboard motor on October 24.
Police said Dr Wallace's body would be released to his family today.
