A body found in the Waitemata Harbour has been confirmed as that of 87-year-old man Hoo Kim.
Mr Kim had been missing from his Hillcrest home since about 3pm on Tuesday.
He suffered from Alzheimers disease and had previously wandered as far as Devonport and Albany.
His body was found early this afternoon by members of the public onboard the Birkenhead Ferry and others at Birkenhead Wharf.
It was recovered by police, who informed Mr Kim's next of kin.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
