Police are investigating the discovery of a man's body near the Coastal Walkway opposite New Plymouth's Kawaroa Aquatic Centre.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 2.30pm today after a member of the public discovered the body.
The body, believed to be that of a male, was located on rocks down from the walkway.
It was too early to determine whether the circumstances were suspicious, police said.
A post-mortem examination and formal identification processes will take place tomorrow.
