Police are working to identify a body found at an Auckland beach late this morning.
Officers were called to the northern end of Orewa Beach, by the cliffs, shortly after 11am.
Police Inspector Kerry Watson said police would not be releasing the person's gender until next of kin has been notified.
"We're working to confirm [the identity] and the circumstances leading up to the death."
Police are at the scene now, but the beach remains open.
