A search and rescue team looking for missing French-Canadian tramper Sorem Kvist has found a body.
The man's body was found halfway between Douglas Rock Hut and Copland Pass, south of Fox Glacier, late this afternoon, Greymouth police Acting Senior Sergeant Brent Cook said.
The body has not been formally identified.
Mr Kvist, 40, from Montreal, was advised last Tuesday to abandon his planned tramp over the Copland track. Department of Conservation (DOC) staff found his bicycle at the start of the track.
He told DOC staff, via radio from Douglas Hut on the track, that he was going to continue to walk the Copland Pass despite being advised against doing so.
He had not been seen since.
