Police are investigating how the body of a middle-aged man came to be found in an Auckland creek.
The body of the man, whose identity is not yet known, was spotted by a member of the public about 3pm in a creek in Shepherds Park, Beach Haven, on Auckland's North Shore.
Police were tonight "trying to establish the circumstances that have led to his death".
A specialist recovery team was needed to recover the body because of the location, a police spokesman said.
"It was down a bank. The body has been extricated and taken to the mortuary," he said tonight.
