A dead woman found in a burning car near Rotorua has been identified by DNA testing.
Firefighters found the woman on Tumunui Rd south of Rotorua, at 9.25am on April 30.
A post-mortem examination was unsuccessful at identifying her because of the extent of her burns.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Loper said DNA testing has confirmed the woman was an Auckland resident who had been reported missing by friends and family.
An investigation has found no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and the case has now been referred to the coroner, he said.
