Police have removed the body of a man found behind buildings on the Strand in the inner-city Auckland suburb of Parnell this afternoon.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, police said.
The 36-year-old man was believed to have fallen down a bank.
Police were alerted about 11.20am and the body was recovered from Augustus Terrace near The Strand in Parnell.
Inspector Matt Fillars says a post-mortem will be carried out by Wednesday.
Its results will determine whether police would launch an investigation into the death, he says.
"We're not ruling anything out."
