The body of a man who died when his four-wheel drive vehicle hit a petrol tanker early today had to be cut from the wreck by rescue workers.
The man's vehicle hit the petrol tanker's trailer soon after 4am at Roscommon Road in Manukau, south Auckland.
No fuel was spilt but firefighters arrived in force with a foam tanker and five fire appliances as a precaution.
No details of the dead man were available. The tanker driver was not hurt.
