The bodies of two men and a woman found dead in a house on the outskirts of Feilding yesterday were removed from the building tonight.
A forensic examination of the Manawatu house is continuing and police expect to be at the Lees Road address for the next couple of days.
Police spokeswoman Kim Perks said formal identification would now take place and was expected to be completed tomorrow.
Names of the dead, an elderly man and a middle-aged couple, would not be released until then.
Autopsies would be carried out tomorrow.
The NZ Herald today reported the couple living at the house as Deborah Honeyfield, a registered nurse for MidCentral Health, and her partner, Desmond Winnie, listed on the electoral roll as a technician.
Earlier today police chaplain Chris Martin visited the house to bless those who died and tomorrow he will return to offer a prayer and bless the house.
Police were contacted by a visitor to a house about 10.20am yesterday and arrived to find the bodies.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said today they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and there was no risk to public safety.
Tragedy has struck four times in the small town in the past six weeks. The discovery of the bodies comes after last month's still unsolved murder of farmer Scott Guy, 31, and the deaths of pilot Jessica Neeson, 27, and her student Patricia Smallman, 64, in an air collision near Feilding Aerodrome, and this month's death of local soldier Tim O'Donnell, 28, in Afghanistan.
A memorial gathering in the town has been planned for Friday after requests from residents.
