A boatshed built more than 50 years ago at Karaka Bay in Wellington, has sold for $133,000.
The boatshed, known as Boatshed 172, was built by Gordon Powell and a friend and went under the hammer at an on-site auction on-site on Saturday.
"I was astounded really," Mr Powell told The Dominion Post.
"I had set a figure of about $80,000 but it (the bidding) just kept on going."
The level of public interest also amazed him.
"There were well over a 100 people there. They were all over the beach, the rocks, the road and in the shed itself," he said.
