A small runabout boat has been towed back to safety after its propeller became entangled in a fishing net in Cook Strait tonight.
A police spokeswoman said the crew of three, who were all wearing lifejackets, became stranded about one nautical mile from Wellington Airport.
A call for help from the crew of the five metre boat was made about 6.20pm.
The boat was towed by police vessel Lady Elizabeth back to Tarakena Bay.
