Nearly all of Coastguard's Auckland rescue boats are out on the water going to the aid of boaties today.
Coastguard says the flurry of activity started around 8am with a rope caught around the propeller of a boat, and and the calls for help have just kept coming since then.
Northern region duty officer Peter Seymour-Nash said staff are dealing with quite a few mechanical failures, fuel problems, a couple of flat batteries and a stuck anchor.
Mr Seymour-Nash said a lot of people are taking advantage of the milkd weather and hitting the water.
