Commercial and recreational boating has resumed on the Dart River, near Queenstown, following a major slip at Sandy Bluff at the weekend.
There were fears a large volume of water could suddenly be released on the lower Dart River below a dam produced by the landslide.
GNS scientists were assessing the slip and associated hazards and have advised that there was no immediate danger of that happening.
A large amount of sediment and wood debris was being washed down the river.
Scientists said it posed no additional hazard, but has advised to stay away from the main area of the landslide.
