Boatie that died on Lake Te Anau named

Howard Robert Phillips died after falling from a yacht during an annual race on Lake Te Anau.

The man that died after falling from a yacht during an annual race on Lake Te Anau yesterday was Howard Robert Phillips of Invercargill.

The 68-year-old fell from a yacht at 1.30pm yesterday. Several boats searched for Phillips after he fell and he was found in the water a short time later.

"Police's thoughts are with Howard's friends and family at this tragic time, while the matter is now with the Coroner," Southern Police said.
