Passengers on board a boat that struck rocks off the coast of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula north of Auckland this afternoon had to abandon the vessel.
A police spokeswoman said police were notified of the incident just before 3pm but it's understood all the passengers have now been recovered and arebeing transported back to shore.
The Coastguard is at the scene.
The Herald believes the boat was a fishing charter. It's unclear what caused the boat to hit rocks.
