KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's top boardsailors are looking to continue their strong start to the RS:X World Championships on day two of the regatta off Takapuna Beach today.
Tom Ashley had a strong start to the event with a third and a first placing in his first two races to be tied for the lead while Barbara Kendall is in a tie for second after a second and first.
Ashley says getting good results on the first day will help set him up for the rest of the regatta. However, he says there is not much between the top competitors so he has to keep performing. He says there are as many as 20 sailors in contention.
Barbara Kendall says she is just enjoying the chance to compete in Auckland. She says it is nice to be at home while others have to travel to the event for a change.
Fellow New Zealander Jon Paul Tobin also performed well with a third and fourth placing in his two races.
The championships run through until Saturday.
