A disgruntled soccer fan who missed the first few days of the World Cup because Sky Television was unable to install a decoder in time has had his complaint to the Advertising Standards Complaints Board upheld.
J. Cheyne said a Sky Network Television radio promotion in June promised viewers that if they joined up for $99 they could watch all of the World Cup games.
He complained when Sky could not connect him until June 13, three days after the start of the tournament.
In upholding the complaint, the board said the advertisement had been absolute, making it clear all consumers would be able to watch all of the games in the series.
