NZ Pure Blue Springs' application to extract 6.9 million litres of water a day from a pristine waterway in South Waikato has been put on hold.
NZ Pure want to take the water from Putaruru's Blue Spring in the Waihou River.
In its resource consent application to Waikato Regional Council, it has asked to extract 6.9 million litres a day.
However, it had now been advised that the Raukawa Settlement Trust and a number of affiliated parties are deemed to be "affected persons" for the purposes of section 95E of the Resource Management Act.
It followed the trust informing the regional council it considered the water in the spring "pristine, and Te Puna is the place the water is most sacred and its healing powers most powerful, both spiritually and physically".
