Patches of blue sky will peek through between showers in Auckland this afternoon, as the main rain band moves away from the city.
Aucklanders were warned of isolated torrential rain today - but the heaviest falls should be short-lived.
MetService meteorologist Rob Kerr said the main rand band was now making its way towards the Coromandel, but a secondary front was set to move across Auckland this afternoon.
The rain should ease for about an hour at 2pm before the second front moves in, he said.
Piha had seen the most rain in Auckland before midday, with 13mm of rain recorded in two hours.
