Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Football Union continues to support the Blow The Whistle campaign which promotes non-violence in the family.
Community rugby manager Doug Bracewell reports that posters and coasters publicising the campaign have been circulated throughout the local rugby fraternity and T-shirts marking the promotion have been provided for the timekeepers and ball boys at matches being played at Memorial Park.
Former Black Cap Peter McGlashan and Stopping Family Violence co-ordinator Gerry Brooking explained the merits of Blow The Whistle to the WBRFU's council of clubs last season, after which all clubs pledged their support of the programme.
The official launching of the campaign here coincided with the Wairarapa-Bush v Buller Heartland championship game with McGlashan being joined by other notable ambassadors in rugby league star Ruben Wiki and national basketball rep Paul Henare.
Bracewell describes Blow The Whistle as a community-driven family non-violence campaign, which uses the language of sport to encourage people to ask for help if they, or someone they know, is living with violence.
