More than 500 drivers have been caught speeding around schools and kindergartens in a four-day police blitz.
The operation, which ran in the western Bay of Plenty between October 11 and 15, resulted in 504 people receiving infringement notices, 464 of whom were caught by speed cameras and 40 by officers.
The highest speed recorded in a 40km/h school zone was 60km/h, and the highest in a 50km/h zone was 72km/h.
