Police have named the man who died after being found injured outside a Blenheim bar early yesterday.
He was Matthew Patrick Heagney, 24, of Blenheim.
Paramedics were called to Shape Shifters bar in Kinross St at 2.40am. They took Mr Heagney to Wairau Hospital where he later died.
Police know Mr Heagney hit his head on the footpath outside the bar but have not yet determined the exact circumstances of the incident.
They have completed a scene examination and are awaiting post mortem results.
Senior Sergeant Ciaran Sloan said he understood there was "some commentary" in the community about what had happened and he called on anyone with information to come forward.
