Blaze victim was volunteer firefighter

Police have released the name of a man they believe was the victim of a fatal house fire at Inangahua in Buller on Friday.

He has been identified as 51-year-old Garry John Broadmore, a volunteer firefighter, and the sole occupant of the property.

Police are awaiting DNA test results before they can confirm the dead man's identity

It is thought the fire started accidentally.
