Masterton firefighters were called to extinguish a log loader that caught on fire in Waingawa Rd on Wednesday.
Station officer Mike Cornford said by the time firefighters got to the scene the loader was "well alight and was extensively damaged".
The loader was isolated in a muddy patch in a yard and there were no concerns it would explode. "Was just a matter of extinguishing the fire," Mr Cornford said.
It took firefighters 20 minutes to put out the blaze.
