Central Hinds will be glad to see the back of New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine as they head to Masterton for their Twenty20 women's cricket match against Auckland Hearts at Queen Elizabeth Park Oval in Masterton on Friday (not Thursday as reported yesterday).
Hinds played Wellington Blaze in one Twenty20 and two one-day national competition matches last week and the two defeats they suffered were largely due to Devine's influence.
In the Twenty20 game, she smashed an unbeaten 71 off 45 balls to ensure Blaze comfortably chased down Hinds' total of 104 and then, in the second of the one-day games, she scored her maiden century, 108 off 62 balls, to take her team to a four-wicket victory. That was after Hinds had scored a competitive 218-4 of which another international in Sara McGlashan made 85.
The first of the one-day games was won by Hinds with Devine making just two runs on that occasion. In fact, Blaze were all out for 79 after Hinds reached 226-4.
