Firefighters have been battling a blaze that broke out at a Chinese Takeaway shop in Porirua this morning.
Fire Service central sift manager David Meikle said seven fire engines were called to the Mentor Lane blaze in the Cannons Creek Shopping Centre about 7.30am.
It was now under control, he said. "It's a fire involving the Chinese takeaways at the shopping centre, it went to a second alarm...but it is now under control.
They're just mopping up," Mr Meikle said. He said the cause of the fire was not known but the Fire Service would investigate.
