Two helicopters, a bulldozer, Department of Conservation staff and volunteer fire brigades were battling last night to contain a blaze in the Far North.
A pa site and New Zealand dotterels, an endangered species, were under threat at DoC's Puwheke Recreational Reserve, on the Karikari Peninsula.
