Blaze a mystery

The cause of a blaze which destroyed a volunteer firefighter's Ahipara home while she was at an emergency call-out remains a mystery.

Far North fire investigator Lindsay Murray, the sole occupant of the Takahe Rd home, just a few hundred metres from the fire station, was out when the blaze began because she was helping at a car accident.

An electrical fault is a possibility, as is a power surge caused by the car hitting a power pole.
