Police are searching for a person who is believed to have fired blank bullets at a man outside a South Auckland sports bar earlier this week.
The incident took place in Manurewa at 3.30am on Thursday.
The man who was shot at had left the scene before police arrived.
A police spokeswoman said they were unaware of any injuries which may been sustained following the shooting.
"Two blank shell castings were located so that might mean that there was actually no bullets in them but we are still investigating that and the circumstances surrounding that."
