An inquest into the death of Wellington's most famed vagrant has revealed he died of a heart attack.
Ben Hana, also known as Blanket man, passed away on January 15th, having lived much of his life on the streets of the capital.
Coroner Gary Evans has today found Mr Hana died following a heart attack, brought on by alcohol poisoning.
He said there was plenty of support available for Mr Hana, and his death was the result of natural causes.
"Notwithstanding attempts by a good number of health professionals and friends to place him in support and accommodation, Mr Hana preferred to remain independent and homeless," he said.
