Hockey Wairarapa will host their first national league match at Clareville on Sunday, June 26.
It will see the Capital men's team, which includes Dalefield players Jesse Workman and Dane Lett, taking on the Central Mavericks. Start time is 4pm.
Capital will have four Black Sticks in their line-up - Blair Hilton, Matt L'Hullier, Steve Jenness and Kyle Pontifex - and they will be having their last game in New Zealand before heading to Europe on a three-week tour with the national squad.
Jenness, who plays at striker, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting players in the country because of his speed, skills and finishing ability and seeing him in action would alone be worth the gold coin donation Hockey Wairarapa will be charging spectators.
L'Hullier, for his part, is seen as the number one drag-flick exponent in New Zealand and with him and Jenness in tandem some spectacular goals can be anticipated. As the defending national league champions Capital will be favourites but Central also have three Black Sticks in their team, including Nick Wilson who was named in a world XI last year
Between the two sides there will also be eight Junior Black Sticks on show, four in each team, and they include Lett, who played for them in a four-test series against Malaysia over Queen's Birthday Weekend. He is having an outstanding club season for Dalefield in the Wellington premier division competition as is Workman, the New Zealand Maori representative who was recently named Wairarapa Senior Sports Personality of the Year for 2010-11.
