KEY POINTS:
Nine-year-old Ben Fox appears to take quite a hit after tumbling off his BMX bike yesterday.
Ben, from Gisborne, crashed into another bike and fell into the path of a rider during a race for 9-year-old boys at Albany's new BMX track.
But they build them tough in BMX riding circles. He picked himself up, no worse for wear.
Ben has been riding the stunt bikes since he was 2 and competitively since he was about 6. His uncle David, a rider himself, said Ben had taken up the sport after watching his cousins compete.
The Fox contingent was well represented at the Easter weekend's national championships of 1500 riders. With Ben, David's three children - Nicholas, 16, Richard, 14, and Abigail, 9 - and his other nephews, Sam, 8, and Christopher, 12, took part.
