The two dogs that attacked six people, seriously injuring a woman in her 60s and killed a cat have been put down.
An Auckland City Council spokeswoman said the dogs were destroyed yesterday morning with the permission of their owner.
A woman suffered serious injuries to her arm and leg after being attacked by the dogs on Wednesday while walking along Hendon Ave in Owairaka.
Five other people had been lunged at in the half-hour before her attack, including two adults who were bitten on the leg in separate incidents.
The dogs' owner, Upu Maori, has apologised for the series of attacks.
She said she had left the staffordshire terrier-cross and rottweiler-cross behind a locked gate that morning and did not know how they escaped.
Animal control officers are expected to decide next week whether charges will be laid against the owner.
A number of infringement notices had been issued before the attack for failing to control the dogs.
