Power is now back on in the Auckland subub where a bird collision with a live power line caused it to go off the grid for a few hours.
Vector today confirmed the power outage in Grey Lynn was caused by a bird ploughing into a set of live power lines shortly before eight this morning.
One local reported hearing a big bang right before the power went out in the suburb.
Earlier today Vector spokeswoman Sandy Hodge confirmed a fault had been recorded at 7:59am and later confirmed the bird had hit power lines outside a property on Great North Road.
She said some 760 properties had been affected by the outage.
