KEY POINTS:
The Kiwi Party couldn't be clearer about who it's up against this election, taking a stab at Helen Clark and nanny state politics with its latest billboard.
The board on Beaumont St in central Auckland reads " ... Your Voice ... Not Hers", referring to the Prime Minister.
Kiwi Party leader Larry Baldock said it pointed to the anti-smacking law "and other anti-democratic things that she's done".
"You could also refer it to Sue Bradford, I suppose, but Helen Clark is the main focus ... Parents want their voice heard. We're focusing not only on the anti-smacking thing but democracy itself. We feel it's been undermined."
The law, passed last year, repealed section 59 of the Crimes Act, which gave parents a defence of "reasonable force" when disciplining a child.
Helen Clark blocked the Kiwi Party's suggestion of a referendum with a view to revising the bill, saying one could not be held before the elections for logistical reasons.
Mr Baldock said this was "another sort of arrogance that's crept in really". Other Kiwi Party billboards to go up in Auckland will be similar to a Tui advertisement. It will be split into two parts - a blue side saying "86% of Kiwis ignored" and a red side saying "Not Right".
