Off-duty police officers and returned services personnel were among about 60 bikers - decked out in skull masks, heavy boots and leather jackets - who rumbled goodwill through Wairarapa on Saturday.
Club Wairarapa manager Kerry Hannah said the Patriots Defence Force Motor Cycle Club annual charity fundraiser run was launched at the Trentham Military Camp and the group of about 60 riders had hit the club for a pit stop in Masterton just after lunch.
Mr Hannah said about 85 people had been travelling as part of the charity run, which included police officers and returned service personnel from Wellington, Manawatu and Wairarapa.
Veteran Wairarapa police officer Sergeant Tim Crum organised and rode in the charity run held in aid of the New Zealand Fallen Heroes Trust, which was founded in 2012 to give support to the families of men and women injured or killed serving their country.
Mr Hannah said the riders had come to Club Wairarapa from a lunch stop at the Gladstone Sports Complex and had ended their run at the Buckhorn Bar and Grill in Carterton.
