The brute power and beauty of the big rig attracted up to 400 spectators for the third annual Truck Stop Show and Shine competition held at Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka on Saturday.
Tui HQ manager Jenny Holmes said family groups had this year cheerfully "overwhelmed" the charity event, which was raising funds for cancer research.
Spectators were treated to a display and competition involving almost 100 trucks, which were "packed in like shiny sardines".
She said a band played throughout the event, which also featured community food stalls, activities, rides for children - "and adults by the end of the day" - on a miniature road-train rig, and free tours of the Mangatainoka brewery.
"We came close to having as many this year as in our first year and I was rapt with the number of families, and children, who turned out for the day."
