Prize money is $305,000 and fans will surely be hoping for a final reminiscent of 2014 when Venus Williams was unsuccessful when she went up against Ana Ivanovic. The pair thrashed out what was described as one of the best finals seen at international level.
After touching down in Auckland on Saturday, Williams said she intends to do "a whole lot better" at the 2015 tournament.
"I definitely feel the energy and I've been hitting well and I'm looking forward to getting started," she said.
"Last year was so amazing and I got so close but ran into a better player. It was the first of four finals for me last year and I was actually reflecting on that as I came through security. I was like 'last year wasn't bad' so I'd love to make it a lot better."
Tickets are still available for today and tomorrow's ASB Classic action and for Wednesday night.
The other days are almost sold out but you can catch all the play live on Sky Sport 4.
Poppy prints and shades for classic cool look

Courtside fashion at the ASB Classic varies each year from the practical and comfy to the high-end statement. The Herald asked fashion blogger Isaac Hindin-Miller of isaaclikes.com what the dos and don'ts are for tournament-goers.
"I like to think the tennis is about 800,000 times cooler than the races, so I wouldn't suggest giant fascinators or any of that nonsense, but a good straw hat wouldn't go amiss - very Wimbledon," he said.
"As far as clothing is concerned, you can't beat a pop of colour or a poppy print. Lacoste polo shirts are sportingly appropriate for the boys, as are Gubb & Mackie's linen short-sleeve shirts; and for the girls Karen Walker's and 27 Names' print dresses are ideal.
"And sunglasses are key. My favourites this season are by the young Auckland-based duo behind Lewis Fredericks - they wouldn't have looked amiss on a French movie star in the 1960s and they'll see you through the 2015 ASB Classic in style."
